Terms of Service

These Terms set the rules for using the neuws website, app, beta programme, accounts, content, learning, quiz, event, and community features.

Private beta. neuws is currently a free, invitation-only test for friends and family. These Terms apply to every invited tester and will be reviewed before any wider public or commercial launch.

1. The agreement and operator

These Terms are an agreement between you and Edvin Kollberg, an individual developer based in Sweden and operating neuws (“neuws”, “we”, or “us”). neuws is not currently operated through a registered company. Contact: edvin@kollberg.se. Postal correspondence details are available on request where legitimately needed.

By creating an account or using an account feature, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not create or use an account. Mandatory consumer rights under the law that applies to you are not excluded by these Terms.

2. Beta service

neuws is currently a pre-release, invitation-only friends-and-family beta. Features may be incomplete, change, contain errors, or be temporarily unavailable. We may invite a limited number of testers, reset beta-only data where reasonably necessary, or discontinue a test feature. We will take reasonable care and give notice where practicable, especially if a change materially affects an account.

Unless a paid feature is clearly offered under separate terms, the beta is provided without charge. These Terms do not authorise a future charge.

3. Age and eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. You must provide accurate registration information, use the service only where lawful, and have authority to accept these Terms. If you use neuws for an organisation, you also confirm that you are authorised to bind it.

4. Accounts and security

You are responsible for safeguarding your credentials and activity under your account. Use a strong unique password, do not share access, and notify us promptly about suspected unauthorised use. Usernames must not impersonate others, mislead people, violate rights, or interfere with the service.

We may require email confirmation, security checks, or updated information. You may delete your account through the self-service control in the app's Settings, or contact us for help. Deletion and any limited retention for backups, safety, legal duties, or disputes are handled as described in the Privacy Policy.

5. Your content

You keep ownership of content you submit. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt for technical formatting, display, and distribute that content only as needed to operate, secure, improve, and provide neuws according to your chosen visibility and these Terms. The licence ends when the content is deleted, except for reasonable backup cycles, content shared with others that they retain, and records we must keep by law or for claims and safety.

You confirm that you have the rights needed to submit content and that it does not violate law or another person’s rights. Feedback about neuws may be used without payment, but we will not publicly attribute private feedback to you without permission.

6. Acceptable use

Do not use neuws to:

  • break the law, infringe intellectual property or privacy, impersonate, deceive, threaten, harass, or exploit anyone;
  • publish illegal content, sexual content involving minors, non-consensual intimate material, credible threats, or instructions intended to cause serious harm;
  • send spam, manipulate engagement, scrape private areas, collect credentials, distribute malware, bypass access controls, or interfere with service operation;
  • reverse engineer or probe the service except where applicable law permits it or through an approved security-reporting process;
  • use automated access outside documented interfaces without written permission.

7. Moderation, reports, and platform rights

We may review reports and remove, restrict, label, demote, or preserve content; limit features; or suspend accounts where reasonably necessary to enforce these Terms, protect people, comply with law, or secure the service. Measures should be proportionate to the issue and available evidence.

To report allegedly illegal content or a Terms violation, email edvin@kollberg.se with the exact content location, why it is illegal or violates these Terms, your contact details, and a good-faith statement that the information is accurate. We will acknowledge and assess sufficiently precise notices. If we restrict your content or account, we will provide reasons where legally required and explain any available review route. You may contest a decision through the same contact address.

Knowingly submitting unfounded notices may have consequences under applicable law. Nothing here limits rights available under the EU Digital Services Act, including access to certified out-of-court dispute settlement where applicable.

8. News, events, quizzes, translations, and AI-assisted features

neuws helps people discover and understand information. News summaries, translations, learning material, quizzes, rankings, recommendations, event details, and AI-assisted output may be incomplete or wrong. They are for general informational and educational use, not medical, legal, financial, safety, or other professional advice.

Check important facts with authoritative sources. Event times, availability, access conditions, prices, and organiser information can change; confirm them with the organiser before relying on them. Quiz and learning scores are product feedback, not formal qualifications.

9. Our content and software

Except for your content and third-party material, neuws and its software, design, branding, compilations, and original content are owned by us or our licensors. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the service for its intended purpose while these Terms apply. No other licence is granted.

10. Third-party services and content

The service may link to or display material from publishers, event organisers, image providers, app stores, maps, or other third parties. We do not control their services and are not responsible for their separate terms, privacy practices, availability, or transactions. Attribution and intellectual-property notices must be respected.

11. Availability, changes, and termination

You may stop using neuws at any time. We may change or discontinue features, but will act reasonably and provide appropriate notice for material adverse changes when practicable. We may suspend or terminate access for a serious or repeated breach, security risk, legal requirement, or threat to others or the service. Where appropriate, we will give notice and an opportunity to remedy or appeal.

On termination, the right to use the service ends. Sections that by their nature should continue—including ownership, necessary content licences, liability, disputes, and accrued rights—remain effective.

12. Service responsibility

We will provide the service with reasonable care and skill. We do not promise uninterrupted availability or that every item of third-party, beta, translated, recommended, or AI-assisted content is accurate. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for intent or gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or mandatory consumer guarantees.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for indirect loss that was not reasonably foreseeable when this agreement was made, or for loss caused by your breach, unlawful use, third-party services, or circumstances outside our reasonable control. If you are a consumer, this section does not reduce your mandatory statutory remedies.

13. Privacy

The Privacy Policy explains our processing of personal data. Accepting these Terms is not consent to advertising or optional marketing. Optional permissions and consents are requested separately where required.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms for legal, security, operational, or product reasons. We will change the version date and give appropriate advance notice of material changes. If required, we will ask you to accept the updated Terms. Changes do not retroactively remove accrued rights.

15. Governing law and disputes

Swedish law governs these Terms, excluding conflict-of-law rules. If you are an EEA consumer, you also retain mandatory protections and may bring proceedings in the courts available under the law of your habitual residence. Please contact us first so we can try to resolve the issue.

Swedish consumers may also contact the National Board for Consumer Disputes (ARN). The European Commission’s former online dispute-resolution platform was discontinued in 2025 and is therefore not listed as a remedy.

16. General

If a provision is unenforceable, the rest remains effective and the provision will be applied as far as law permits. A delay in enforcing a right is not a waiver. You may not transfer this agreement without our consent; we may transfer it as part of a genuine reorganisation or service transfer, subject to law and without reducing your rights. These Terms and policies expressly incorporated into them are the agreement for the beta service.
